HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CALLS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF DISABILITY TRUST FUNDS                                                                                    25-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The House of Representatives Committee on Disability Matters has advocated for the establishment Disability Trust Funds to cater for the plights of the 35 million people with disabilities in Nigeria.

The Chairman House Committee on Disability Matters, Dr. Bashiru Dawodu made the call at the Official Signing of Memorandum of Understanding for PWDs Potential Unhinged Project.
Dr. Dawu, who explained that lack of compliance to disability act hindering the contribution of People with Disabilities to National economy, noted that there was the need to guarantee Social Protection for PWDs.
The Committee also called for tax exemption for Persons With Disabilities, saying such class of Nigerians should not be allowed to pay tax.
The Chairman emphasized that the National Assembly would ensure that some of the lapses in the Disability Act are addressed in the ongoing Constitutional reform and other bills before the National Assembly.
