By Sadiq Aminu.                                                        The Niger State Government has banned the collection of taxes from petty traders and hawkers across all the Twenty Five Local Government Areas of the State.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago announced this while addressing newsmen in Minna.

The Governor noted with concern that taxing petty traders was extortion as they are all exempted from tax payments in the State.

According to the Governor, the State’s centralized tax system has categorically stipulate the issues of those to be taxed and other related matters.

Governor Bago warned that anyone caught extorting the exempted traders would be sanctioned accordingly.
