GOVERNOR IDRIS DIRECTS FOR THE RESETTLEMENT OF VICTIMS OF LAKURAWA BANDITS ATTACK IN KEBBI 12-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, has directed that, the victims of the Lakurawa bandits attack on IDP camps in Arewa Local Government Area of the state are to return back to their homes within the next two weeks after measures were put in place in the affected areas.
The Governor, gave the directive when he paid a condolence visit to the IDP camp in Kangiwa whom were attacked and displaced by Lakurawa in Birnin Debe, Dan Marke and Tambo villages.
The Governor said, the visit was to condole with the victims and enable him have a first hand situation report on the dastardly incident to guide the state government to take the required proactive action as well to assess the situation and ascertain plausible measures to be taken immediately to come to the urgent aid of the victims.
While lamenting that, the attacks were usually launched from the neighbouring Sokoto State and Niger Republic, the Governor expressed displeasure over the loss of many lives and property and commended security agencies for doing their best to bring the unfortunate situation under control and urged the people to always report any suspicious movement to the authorities for necessary action to be taken.
Earlier, the Chairman of Arewa Local Government Area, Alhaji Sani Aliyu, thanked the Governor for taking urgent action to bring the ugly situation under total control.
The Chairman also stated that relief assistance was given to the victims, saying that the families of each of those who lost their loves got N500,000 while each of those who were injured also got N500,000.
Last Sunday, the Lakurawa bandits attacked 7 villages in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State killing over 10 people and burnt down many houses which was a reprisal attack following the killing of one of their leader named Maigemu by security forces.
