YUSUF SEEKS STRONGER ECONOMIC TIES BETWEEN KANO AND CHINA                                                                       13-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has called for stronger economic ties between Kano and China, seeking to boost trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the two nations.

Governor Yusuf stated this while receiving the Chinese Ambassador Dunhai Yu on in his office.

This meeting highlights the governor’s efforts to foster greater cooperation and investment opportunities between Kano and China.

Governor Yusuf emphasized Kano’s strategic position as a commercial hub, offering opportunities for investment, access to raw materials, and a large market.

He acknowledged China’s economic leadership and its contributions to Nigeria’s economy, including trade, investment, infrastructure, and financial assistance.

The governor noted that bilateral trade between China and Nigeria reached $22.6 billion in 2023, with Kano benefiting significantly from this relationship.

Governor Yusuf announced plans to unveil a five-year investment strategy to attract more Chinese investors, highlighting attractive incentives to retain investments in Kano State.

He also emphasized the importance of educational collaboration, urging China to continue and expand scholarship programs.

Ambassador Dunhai Yu expressed appreciation for the warm reception, describing Kano as a key economic and cultural hub in West Africa.

He highlighted China’s commitment to expanding partnerships with Kano, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure development, trade, and education.
