HEARING COMMENCES TODAY AT LAFIA IN A MURDER CHARGE AGAINST OLUWATIMILEHIN AJAYI OVER THE KILLING OF A NYSC MEMBER SALOME ADAIDU 17-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu Hearing commenced today at a Lafia High court presided by Justice Simon Aboki in a murder charge brought against Oluwatimilehin Daniel Ajayi over the killing of a National Youth Service Corps NYSC member Salome Adaidu.
The suspect again pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
The 32 years old singer arrived the state high court in Lafia at three minutes past the hour of nine in the morning accompanied with personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS.
The Nasarawa State government through the state Attorney General, Hauwa Samuel Jugbo had applied and taken over the prosecution of the case from the police.
When the case came up, prosecution counsel, Raymond Umar filed a motion to amend the name of the defendant from Timilehin Ajayi to Oluwatimilehin Daniel Ajayi in the interest of justice.
The presiding judge, Justice Simon Aboki granted the relief sought after confirming the name from the suspect.
The prosecution counsel thereafter presented three witnesses including the Divisional Police Officer DPO in charge of Karshi police station and uncle to the deceased.
However, counsel to the defendant, Joseph Tuku Bisong while cross examining the witnesses sought to know if forensic investigation was carried out to ascertain if the dismembered body was that of the twenty-four years old female corps member, Salome Adaidu.
Uncle of the deceased Mr. Adaidu Samson in his response told the court that he was quick to identify her head when it was brought out from the polythene bag and shown to him.
Justice Simon Aboki after listening to the two parties adjourned sitting for Tuesday for continuation of hearing.
Oluwatimilehin Daniel Ajayi popularly known as Timilehin Ajayi was arrested on twelfth of last month for allegedly killing and dismembering the body of a corps member Salome Adaidu.
