PROFESSOR CHRIS PIWUNA EMERGES AS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES (ASUU)                                                                                            13-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        Professor Chris Piwuna has emerged as the new President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Professor Piwuna, a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, and current Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos, Plateau State, takes over from Professor Victor Osodeke.

The election was conducted during the 23rd National Delegates Congress of the Union, in Benin, Edo State.

The keenly contested election saw Professor Piwuna defeating his opponent, Professor Adamu Babayo from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

Africa 247 Correspondent reports that Professor Piwuna is now the 14th President of the ASUU.
