AGILE WEEK 2025 SHOWCASES TALENT ACROSS 60 KANO SCHOOLS                                                                                    16-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       Over 60 schools across Kano State participated in a series of academic, entrepreneurship, and sporting competitions organized by the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment to commemorate AGILE Week 2025.

The week-long event featured a wide range of contests including debates, volleyball, basketball, spelling bees, painting, poetry, essay writing, short stories, content creation, and climate change-themed competitions, among others.

Speaking during the event, the Kano State AGILE Coordinator, Malam Mujjitapha Aminu, emphasized that AGILE Week is a flagship initiative under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Project.

It aims to highlight the talents and intellectual capabilities of adolescent girls.

He noted that the inclusion of sports was intentional, aiming to build self-confidence, encourage healthy competition, and promote teamwork among students.

Malam Mujjitapha further revealed that while the AGILE Week began as a program rolled out in seven states, it has now expanded to between 18 and 21 states nationwide.

He also announced that winners from the various competitions will go on to represent Kano State at the national level.

Winners in the various categories include, Content Creation, Government Science Technical College (GSTC) Dala, Short Story GSTC Jaoji, Poetry First Lady College, Essay Writing Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Chiranci, Climate Change: Mario Tijjani Girls College.

Others are Digital Literacy, Government Technical College Kano,Volleyball (Girls) Army Day Secondary School,
Volleyball (Boys) Ahmadiyya College, Basketball (Girls), Government Girls College Dala.

Some of the victorious students, Husna Adam, Maryam Sani, Mariya Bashir, and Umar Garba, expressed their gratitude to AGILE for the opportunity to demonstrate their talents.

They pledged to work diligently in preparation for the national competitions.

The event drew a large turnout, with attendees including representatives from the Kano Emirate Council, School-Based Management Committees (SBMC), K-SAFE, academicians, students, and senior government officials.
