DEFECTION HITS PDP, AS PARTY HOLDS NEC MEETING

By Sadiq Aminu More Defection has hit the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as Party held their NEC meeting to address the political crises rocking the leading opposition party in Nigeria.
A member, House of Representatives Festus Olanrewaju Akingbaso, from the People’s Democratic Party PDP, has joined the Ruling All Progressives Congress APC.
Mr. Akingbaso, the Member representing Idanre Ifedore Federal Constituency of Ondo State, defection was announced in the floor of the House during Plenary by the Speaker House of Representatives Dr Abbas Tajudeen.
Mr. Akingbaso cited internal crises in the People’s Democratic Party PDP as reason for his defection.
Raising Point of Order, the House Minority leader, Kingsley Chinda called on the Green Chamber to ensure strict adherence to relevant constitutional provisions before joining another Political Party.
