GOVERNOR ZULUM JOINS THOUSANDS IN EID-UL-KABIR PRAYER AT RAMAT SQUARE 06-06-25
By Sadiq Aminu. And in Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno were among thousands of Muslim faithful who converged this morning at Ramat Square, the venue for the central Eid ground, to perform the two rakats prayer commemorating the Eid Kabir (Eid al-Adha) celebration.
Also, at prayer ground were the traditional rulers led by the Shehu of Borno Alh Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, among others, dignitaries present.
In his sermon after the two rakats prayers, the Imam of Borno, Imam Mamman Ibn Shettima Saleh, traced the origin of Eid Kabir to the story of Prophet Ibrahim, who attempted to sacrifice his only son Ishmael in fulfillment of Allah’s commandment, before Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, replaced him with a ram.
The Imam further emphasized the importance of the ram over other species of animals and urged wealthy individuals to assist the needy by sharing the meat.
He also offered prayers for the successful Hajj exercise and the safe return of all pilgrims from the holy land to their respective countries.
Following the sermon, the Imam slaughtered the sacrificial ram as ordained in the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet, encouraging others to follow this tradition.
