GOVERNOR ZULUM INAUGURATES 20 ROAD PROJECTS IN MAIDUGURI TO MARK DEMOCRACY DAY                                                                                    13-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has assured Borno citizens of more dividends of democracy before the end of his tenure.
The governor gave the assurance when he inaugurated projects executed by his administration, during which he also performed a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of two new hospitals in Maiduguri and environs to mark 2025 democracy day.

As part of activities marking the 2025 Democracy day, Governor Zulum inaugurated over twenty- two road and drainages projects within Maiduguri and environs spanning several kilometres, located at old GRA area and other communities within the state capital that include Umarari, Ngarannam and Gwange areas.
The governor also inspected ongoing construction work at the site of the proposed Maiduguri International Conference Centre, a landmark facility designed to host up to 4,000 participants and position Borno as a prime destination for international events.
The inspection marked a crucial milestone in the state’s urban renewal strategy and quest to reclaim its place as the Northeast hub for high-level national and international engagements as alluded to by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The project, which is scheduled for completion within 18 months, is sited on seven hectares of land, with the main conference building occupying 6,000 square meters.
Usman Tijani, who briefed the Governor highlighted key features of the center which include a multipurpose main auditorium with 2,500 seating capacity, an elevated 1,100-seat theatre gallery, banquet hall, breakout committee rooms, and a media center.
Governor Zulum also performed groundbreaking ceremony for construction of 450 bed capacity General Hospital Zannari and 250 bed capacity state orthopaedic Hospital at Goni Kachallari.
Construction of the two healthcare facilities is part of efforts to bring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to the doorsteps of the citizens.
