He urged residents to protect the infrastructure for sustainability.

“Today is a great day of pride and profound gratitude for the residents of the Federal Capital Territory and indeed for all Nigerians. I am very happy and proud to be part of this auspicious day. as we gather to commission a transformative project.

“The Greater Abuja Water Supply Network, the Loop 1, 2, 5 and 6, a monumental effort that will ensure safe, sustainable and sufficient water to the homes, institutions and communities across the capital city.

“Water is life, it is not a luxury, it is a basic human right and a foundation for public health, urban development and economic growth.

“Thank you, the team of Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for exhibiting a very great virtue of leadership. This virtue is when a leader is very conscious of the need of his people and he goes about, committed with dedication to do it. That’s what you have been exhibiting in FCT,” Tinubu said.

President Tinubu also sympathized with the good people of Benue and the Government over the recent massacre, and promised to reschedule his programme to visit the Benue people by Wednesday this week.

“We should be able to manage our anger and frustration. I sympathize with those who have lost their lives, I will adjust my program and visit Benue people on Wednesday,”

“While I sympathize with the Benue people, I have spoken to the Governor, the leadership and people of Benue, to accept our condolences and try hard, very consciously to maintain peace and harmony among themselves.”

On his part, the Minister of FCT, Dr. Nyesom Wike, pointed out that the contract was awarded in 2017 but left unattended by the previous administration.

He further announced that the present administration has kick-started plans to replicate such water projects in satellite towns, which will be commissioned in 2026 to mark Tinubu’s third year in office.

Also, the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, said the completion of the Greater Abuja Water Project is aimed at improving the living standards of residents.

While thanking President Tinubu for prioritizing the welfare of FCT residents, Dr. Mahmoud noted that the measure reaffirms the current administration’s promise and efforts to ensure access to clean, safe water, creating a healthier, more resilient, and inclusive territory.

“Your Excellency, your leadership has breathed new life into long-standing projects such as this one, transforming plans on paper into realities that directly impact the lives of our citizens.

“The completion of these water supply loops clearly demonstrates your administration’s resolve to ensure that no community is left behind in our pursuit of national development,” Mahmoud said.
