PEACE RETURNS TO  ALEYITA AFTER MOB ATTACKS DRIVER FOR KILLING SCHOOLBOY                                                                                                            17-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      Calm has been restored to Aleyita, a community in the Federal Capital Territory, following a mob attack on a driver who rammed into a schoolboy killing him on the spot.

The victim, a boy of approximately nine years old, was on his way to school with his older brother when the driver, reportedly speeding through the Technology Village layout, between Aleyita and Pyakasa, fatally struck him.

The Divisional Police Officer of the Galadimawa Division, CSP Abdullahi Liman, led a team of officers to the local hospital where the driver had sought refuge after his vehicle was set ablaze by an enraged mob.

CSP Liman later visited the bereaved family to offer his condolences and to appeal for calm, urging the community to allow the police to take over the investigation.

The victim’s father requested only the release of his son’s body for burial and expressed his willingness to let the police handle the matter.

However, some residents voiced dissatisfaction with the police intervention, attributing their anger to the driver’s history of dangerous driving.

They claimed he had been warned just the previous day and alleged that he had previously killed someone with his style of driving.

At the time of filing this report, the police had successfully evacuated the suspect to the Galadimawa Division for his safety, and an investigation is ongoing.
