SOKOTO ASSEMBLY APPROVES N38.8bn BUDGET ADJUSTMENT

By; Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Sokoto State House of Assembly has approved Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s request to adjust the 2025 budget by N38.8 billion.

The amendment, presented by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, aims to fund key infrastructure and social services. The total budget remains at N526 billion, but details of where the funds were moved from or to were not disclosed.

Leaders in the Assembly said the adjustment was necessary to support ongoing projects and align spending with priority needs. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Development, Dr. Abubakar Zayanna, noted that the changes would make the budget more realistic and in line with financial standards.

The 2025 budget continues to focus on health, education, skills development, religious affairs, and security.
