ARGUNGU FESTIVAL: DG DONATES ₦1.7M TO BOOST PVC COLLECTION IN KEBBI

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Director General of Argungu International Fishing Festival, Alhaji Safiyanu Bena, has donated ₦1.7 million to support youths involved in mobilising voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Represented by Engineer Tukur Hamidu Bena during the distribution exercise, he explained that the support reflects his commitment to grassroots development and complements Governor Nasir Idris’ call for leaders and individuals to invest in community growth, youth empowerment, and civic responsibility.

The donation will cover allowances and data support for 85 volunteers from Bena, Ayu, and Dan-Umaru wards. Each volunteer will receive ₦2,500 daily for eight days, ensuring smooth mobilisation and wider participation.

Bena stressed that the initiative is designed to prevent voter disenfranchisement in the 2027 elections and to encourage new registrants to collect their PVCs.

This comes as INEC recently launched an online voter registration exercise to update registers and ease PVC collection across the country.
