FG FLAGS OFF FARM INPUT DISTRIBUTION IN SOKOTO TO BOOST FOOD SECURITY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Federal Government has launched the distribution of farm inputs and equipment in Sokoto State as part of efforts to achieve food security under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, represented by Abdulmajid Sule, said food security remains a top priority of the administration, which has already declared it a national emergency.

He explained that the government is working with state authorities and partners to enhance productivity, create jobs, and reduce the cost of living, adding that Nigerians are beginning to feel the impact through a gradual drop in food prices.

Sokoto State Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor Tukur Alkali, said the state remains a major beneficiary of the federal government’s agricultural programmes, expressing optimism that the inputs will boost farmers’ yields.

A beneficiary, Lawal Sani, thanked the government and pledged to make good use of the materials received.
