TINUBU ORDERS IMMEDIATE REDUCTION OF 2026 HAJJ FARE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed an immediate downward review of the 2026 Hajj fare to reflect the strengthening of the naira.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who conveyed the directive, gave the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) two days to implement the new rate. He urged NAHCON, state governors, and pilgrims’ boards to work together to ensure a smooth and affordable Hajj exercise.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, said the move aims to ease the financial burden on intending pilgrims, while NAHCON officials and state representatives described it as a timely and welcome relief for Muslim faithful.
