By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Government has restated its commitment to an inclusive and people-centered 2026 budget.

Director of Budget, Alhaji Mustapha Sani Suleiman, made this known during a public hearing in Kano aimed at gathering citizens’ input for the proposed budget. He said the session ensures government plans reflect public priorities such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Civil society representative, Salisu Yusuf, praised the initiative as a step toward greater transparency and accountability. He reaffirmed the commitment of civil society groups to promoting equitable development and sustained collaboration with government institutions.

The hearing drew participation from community leaders, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, all contributing ideas to shape a responsive 2026 budget.
