KANOS ASSEMBLY URGES ACTION ON INSECURITY IN TSANYAWA, BAGWAI

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State House of Assembly has urged the state government to take swift action against rising insecurity in Tsanyawa and Bagwai Local Government Areas.

During plenary presided over by Speaker Alhaji Jibril Ismail Falgore, members Ali Lawan Alhassan Kiyawa and Garba Ya’u Gwarmai raised alarm over increasing cases of cattle rustling, kidnapping, and killings. They said thousands of cattle had been stolen in recent weeks, blaming the situation on the areas’ proximity to Katsina State.

The lawmakers called for more security personnel and funding to protect lives and property, warning that unchecked insecurity could disrupt trade and education.

In a related motion, the House also sought government support for victims of the recent Shuwaki Market fire in Ghari LGA, where over 500 shops were destroyed.

Gwarmai appealed for a fire station, police outpost, and better roads to prevent future disasters and strengthen security.
