PSC DEPLOYS MONITORING TEAMS FOR ANAMBRA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has deployed monitoring officers to Anambra State’s three senatorial zones ahead of this weekend’s governorship election. The move aims to ensure police officers conduct themselves professionally and uphold neutrality during the polls.

PSC Chairman, Retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, urged officers to maintain discipline, protect electoral officials and materials, and create a peaceful voting environment. He warned that any officer who compromises their duty will face sanctions.

Argungu described the election as a test of police readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections, commending Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, for proactive security preparations.

He assured that officers who demonstrate professionalism will be recognized, while erring ones will be punished.

A PSC statement confirmed that monitoring teams will operate from Awka and across the three senatorial districts.
