ADAMAWA CJ FREES 57 INMATES, GRANTS BAIL TO 29 AT JIMETA FACILITY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Adamawa Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, has freed 57 inmates and granted bail to 29 others during a jail delivery exercise at the overcrowded Jimeta Correctional Centre. The review also led to 52 convictions and adjustments in a few cases, bringing relief to a facility holding 339 inmates instead of its 300-capacity limit.

Justice Abdulrahman urged the released inmates to embrace good conduct, while beneficiaries like Haggai Audi expressed gratitude and pledged positive change. Advocacy group PPDC, through its coordinator Motunrayo Anibaba, supported the exercise by paying compensation fees for four inmates and reaffirmed its commitment to helping those with civil-related fines.
