ABIA, IMO LAUNCH 24-HOUR SECURITY TASKFORCE ON ABA–OWERRI EXPRESSWAY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma have jointly launched a 24-hour security taskforce along the Aba–Owerri expressway to curb rising criminal attacks, especially ahead of the festive season.

The move followed an emergency security meeting in Owerri after recent assaults on motorists. The new joint force, comprising the Army, Navy, Police, DSS, and other agencies, will patrol from Owerrinta in Abia through Owerri and neighbouring areas.

Governor Otti praised Governor Uzodinma for swiftly arresting suspects involved in an attack on his advance team. Both leaders assured travellers of full protection and warned that criminals caught on the highway will face severe consequences.
