SENATE CONFIRMS 64 AMBASSADORIAL NOMINEES

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of 64 Nigerians as Career and Non-Career Ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on the nominees forwarded by President Bola Tinubu.

Presenting the report, the Chairman of the committee, Senator Sani Bello, said the nominees were thoroughly screened and found qualified in character, experience and knowledge of international diplomacy. He said the committee was satisfied with their ability to effectively represent Nigeria’s interests abroad.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, congratulated the confirmed ambassadors and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by projecting Nigeria positively and upholding the nation’s foreign policy objectives.
