By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025. The presentation, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., was confirmed through an official communication circulated to lawmakers.

A formal notice from the Presidency is expected to be read on the floor of the House of Representatives when plenary resumes on Thursday, informing members of the president’s planned appearance. Security around the National Assembly complex will be tightened on the day, with access restricted to accredited persons only.

The budget presentation marks the formal submission of the federal government’s 2026 fiscal proposals to the legislature for debate, possible amendment and approval.
