By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the explosion of a suspected improvised explosive device along the Magami–Dansadau Road in Maru Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said details of the incident are still being compiled, assuring that a full statement will be released after investigations are concluded.

Eyewitnesses reported that the blast occurred as a security-escorted convoy was travelling through the area, resulting in multiple casualties and damage to vehicles. Security operatives attached to the convoy were said to have responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and pursuing them into the surrounding area.

Following the incident, security presence has been reinforced along the route to protect road users, while motorists have been advised to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
