POLICE REMOVE ILLEGAL CHECKPOINTS ON EAST-WEST ROAD

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigeria Police have dismantled illegal checkpoints along the East-West Road in Bayelsa State during a joint assessment by Zone 16 and the Bayelsa State Command.

The operation, led by senior police officers, targeted unlawful roadblocks and reinforced warnings against extortion and unprofessional conduct by officers on the highway. Police authorities stressed that personnel must carry out their duties lawfully and with respect for members of the public.

The Bayelsa State Command said the exercise will continue as part of efforts to improve police conduct and ensure safer travel on major roads in the state.
