ZULUM DENIES BACKING ANY CANDIDATE FOR 2027, REAFFIRMS NEUTRALITY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has declared that he has no preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship race or the forthcoming APC congresses. He made the clarification during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Maiduguri, dismissing speculations about endorsing a successor.

Governor Zulum said his focus remains on delivering security and development for Borno State, stressing that fairness and transparency must guide the conduct of party congresses to preserve unity and credibility within the APC. He encouraged a democratic process that allows new individuals to emerge and strengthen the party.

The governor also moved to deepen party cohesion by inaugurating committees to boost APC e-registration and promote reconciliation, as party leaders at the meeting praised his leadership and pledged support for a smooth congress process.
