FCTA WORKERS SUSPEND INDUSTRIAL ACTION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria have directed all Federal Capital Territory Administration workers to resume work immediately, bringing the ongoing industrial action to an end.

The directive followed a late-night meeting with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, convened through the intervention of the Senate Committee on the FCT. The unions said the decision was taken in good faith to promote industrial peace and harmony.

At the meeting, the minister assured that all grievances raised by FCTA workers would be addressed, with guarantees that no worker would be victimised over the strike and that pending cases at the National Industrial Court would be withdrawn.

The strike had been triggered by delays in implementing the 2021 Technical Committee report on the adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure.
