NECO RELEASES 2025 EXTERNAL SSCE RESULTS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The National Examinations Council has released the 2025 External SSCE results, reporting a rise in examination malpractice cases due to improved monitoring technology. NECO said the results were released 52 days after the final paper, with over 95,000 candidates sitting for the exam out of about 97,000 registered.

According to the Registrar, Professor Dantani Wushishi, more than 71 percent of candidates earned five credits and above including English and Mathematics, while about 86 percent achieved five credits regardless of the two core subjects. He explained that the increase in detected malpractice reflects stronger surveillance, not a decline in exam standards, and credited institutional reforms and stakeholder support for the council’s overall performance.
