NIGER GOVERNOR URGED TO ASSENT HISBAH LAW

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Muhammed Umar Bago of Niger State has been urged to respect public demand and legislative approval by signing the Hisbah law. Mahmud Lawal Murshid of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) emphasized that the law is an internal faith-based mechanism for the Muslim community and does not infringe on others’ rights.

Murshid dismissed claims that the law would target Christians as unfounded, reaffirming the commitment of Islamic organizations to interfaith harmony, constitutional order, and the peaceful development of the state. He called for dialogue, respect, and unity above divisive rhetoric.
