COURT ADJOURNS EL-RUFAI BAIL HEARING, BARS JOURNALISTS

By:Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Journalists were barred from covering proceedings as Nasir El-Rufai appeared before a Federal High Court in Kaduna over a corruption case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

During the session, the defence raised and later withdrew a motion seeking the recusal of the presiding judge over alleged bias, while proceedings on the bail application could not continue after the prosecution submitted its response in court.

Justice Rilwan Aikawa subsequently adjourned the bail hearing to April 1, 2026, as both prosecution and defence declined to address the media after the sitting.
