RETIRED GENERAL DIES IN BANDITS’ CAPTIVITY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar has died in captivity, two weeks after he was abducted by bandits along the Matazu–Kafin Soli Road in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Government confirmed his death, describing it as a tragic loss to his family, the state and the nation.

According to authorities, efforts by security agencies and the state government to secure his release were unsuccessful. The government said the retired military officer died from health complications while in captivity.

Officials also renewed calls for intensified action against banditry and pledged to continue efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
