INEC, NOA STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) have agreed to deepen collaboration to promote democratic values and increase citizens’ participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and NOA Director-General, Lanre Isa-Onilu, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Professor Yakubu said the partnership was crucial to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, stressing that credible elections require active civic engagement and public confidence in the electoral process.

He also called for a joint nationwide campaign against vote-buying, electoral violence and misinformation, describing them as major threats to free and credible elections.

Isa-Onilu said the NOA would intensify voter education and grassroots sensitisation across the country to encourage greater participation and promote peaceful elections.
