By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.
Enitan, from Osun State, succeeds Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

The new Head of Service is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months across the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.

Tinubu commended Walson-Jack for her contributions, reforms and innovations during her tenure, wishing her a fulfilling life after public service.

The President tasked Enitan with consolidating ongoing reforms, strengthening professionalism and efficiency, and building a more responsive and accountable Civil Service capable of advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Born on December 12, 1966, Enitan holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University.
