TROOPS ARREST THREE SUSPECTED GUN RUNNERS, RESCUE SIX HOSTAGES IN ZAMFARA

Troops of the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army have arrested three suspected gun runners and rescued six kidnap victims during separate operations in Zamfara State.
The Army said soldiers intercepted a suspicious vehicle along the Kauran Namoda-Shinkafi Road and recovered an AK-103-2 rifle, a magazine and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag of millet.
The suspects were taken into custody for questioning, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected arms trafficking network.
In a separate operation along the Anka-Gummi road, troops responded to a terrorist ambush and engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee and abandon six captives.
The rescued victims were taken to General Hospital, Anka, for medical attention. Three of them, who sustained minor injuries, are reportedly in stable condition.
The Army said it would continue patrols and surveillance across vulnerable areas to disrupt criminal activities and protect communities.
