By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won all 21 chairmanship seats in the Anambra State local government elections held on Saturday, August 29.

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) announced the results on Sunday in Awka, declaring the election peaceful and credible.

APGA won 20 of the 21 local government areas through a Yes-or-No voting process. In Anambra East, where the Young Progressives Party (YPP) fielded a candidate, APGA secured 50,169 votes against YPP’s 1,658 votes.

ANSIEC Chairman, Genevieve Osakwe, congratulated the winners and urged them to serve the people responsibly. She also advised candidates dissatisfied with the results to seek redress through lawful channels.
