EKITI TRIBUNAL STRIKES OUT PDP GOVERNORSHIP PETITION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has struck out the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Wole Oluyede, after he withdrew the case.

The three-member panel, led by Justice Abubakar Idris Kutigi, unanimously struck out the petition following a request by Oluyede’s counsel, Paul Akomolafe.

Oluyede said he withdrew the petition to support efforts to unite Ekiti stakeholders and move the state forward, while also responding to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention.

Two other petitions filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Action Alliance (AA) remain before the tribunal.

The tribunal has fixed September 10 for a report on proceedings and September 14 for the hearing of the substantive petitions.
