LOKOJA RESIDENTS LAMENT RISING PETROL PRICES, TRANSPORT FARES

Residents of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, have expressed concern over the rising price of petrol and its impact on transportation and the cost of goods and services.
Petrol currently sells for between N1,430 and N1,500 per litre at different filling stations across the metropolis, with residents saying the increase has pushed up transport fares.
A civil servant, Akpala Tijani, said the rising cost of petrol was putting additional pressure on workers as they spend more on daily transportation.
Another resident, Itopa Aliyu, appealed to the government and relevant stakeholders to take steps to stabilise petrol prices and reduce the burden on commuters.
A market woman, Ramota Ajakura, said the increase was also affecting the prices of goods as traders and transporters now spend more to move products.
The residents urged the government to intensify efforts to stabilise fuel prices and address the rising cost of transportation.
