By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has suspended the Niger State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, following the deaths of suspected illegal miners in the agency’s custody.
The suspension comes as the Federal Government orders a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The investigation is expected to establish what led to the deaths of the suspects while in custody and determine whether any officials or other persons should be held responsible.
Authorities are expected to announce further actions after the investigation is concluded.
