TWO APC RESULTS NAME DIFFERENT WINNERS IN ZAMFARA NORTH SENATORIAL PRIMARY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Conflicting results have emerged from the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Zamfara North, with two separate committees declaring different winners ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the first result announced by the committee chairman, Sani Abdullahi, Alhaji Yahaya Tijjani Kaura was declared winner with 16,758 votes. Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u came second with 1,465 votes, while Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi polled 1,447 votes.

However, a second committee, chaired by Dr Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu, declared Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u the winner with 49,176 votes. Alhaji Tijjani Yahaya scored 9,628 votes, while Shinkafi secured 2,602 votes.

Dr Aliyu said Ya’u met the requirements of the APC Constitution and the party’s primary election guidelines, having secured the highest number of votes.

The two declarations have raised questions about the actual outcome of the exercise, with the APC leadership expected to clarify the conflicting results.
