By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 Traditional Title Holder, Aminu Babba Dan’Agundi, Seeks Enforcement of Fundamental Human Rights.

The Federal High Court in Kano has ruled in favor of Aminu Babba Dan’Agundi, a traditional title holder, in the ongoing emirship tussle.

The court affirmed its jurisdiction to hear the case, which challenges the violation of Dan’Agundi’s fundamental human rights by the Kano State government and other respondents.

The respondents, including the Kano State government, House of Assembly, Speaker, Attorney General, Commissioner of Police, Inspector General of Police, NSCDC, and DSS, had challenged the court’s jurisdiction.

However, Justice Abdullahi M. Liman, relying on Sections 42(1) and 315 of the 1999 constitution, ruled in favor of Dan’Agundi.

Counsel to the 2nd and 3rd respondents, Ibrahim Isah Wangida, hinted at a possible appeal in the Court of Appeal, pending consultation with his clients.

The matter has been adjourned until Friday for hearing of pending applications, with the judge emphasized the sensitivity and urgency of the case.
