OVER SIX THOUSAND FARMERS IN FCT BENEFIT FROM FADAMA CARES GRANTS 05-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu Over six thousand farmers in the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have benefitted from the Fadama Cares Grants.
At the inauguration of the disbursement of project grants to the fourth Batch of Fadama Cares Beneficiaries in Gwagwalada, the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, said the gesture was to improve food security in the nation’s capital in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The FCT Fadama Cares, is FCT COVID-19 action recovery and economic stimulus programme supported by the World Bank, targeted at supporting newly emerging vulnerable and poor Households that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister explained that the FCT administration was committed towards poverty reduction of the residents of the territory as well as addressing the challenges of the vulnerable through human oriented projects and programmes.
The Mandate Secretary, FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Mr. Lawan Geidam, said the Secretariat was ready to collaborate with stakeholders to support and improve the needs of farmers in the territory.
The Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Muhammadu Magaji, while calling on FCT administration to rehabilitate satellites town roads for easy transportation of agric produce, appealed to the beneficiaries to effectively utilize the grants.
Items distributed include, fertilizers, Sprayers, Fish and poultry feeds, grinding Mechines, herbicides and seedlings.
