SENATORS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN AKPABIO’S LED LEADERSHIP                                                                                              17-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Senators have passed a vote of confidence in the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the entire leadership of the 10th Senate.

The vote of confidence which was passed on Thursday during plenary, came barely 24 hours after Wednesday’s fake news report by some media platforms that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) took over the National Assembly to prevent a plan to impeach Akpabio.

The Senate President, during plenary session on Wednesday, debunked impeachment rumours, describing it as “fake news.”

“There is no limit to what online publications cannot do. This is total fake news and the impeachment of principal officers did not arise and we are all here in the National Assembly without any controversial issues.

“I learnt that they could click an AI and news will start trending to drive traffic and I am sure the traffic for this fake news is massive by now,” he said.

Senator Akpabio said red Chamber remained United.

Earlier on Wednesday, rumours on some social media platforms stated that the Senate president was set to be impeached and alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) had taken over the National Assembly premises to prevent a plan to impeach the officers from taking place.

The Senate spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu and the chairman Northern Senators Forum, Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar’adua also dispelled impeachment rumours of Senator Akpabio, describing it as “unacceptable and unspeakable.”                        Special adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, in a reaction spoke of the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to encourage a harmonious working relationship between the legislature and the executive.
