KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND RECOVERS COUNTERFEIT CURRENCIES WORTH OVER N129B, INCLUDING $3.3M AND CFA 51.9M                                                                    10-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Kano State Police Command has announced a significant reduction in crime rates across the state, citing a multifaceted approach that includes community policing, intelligence-led operations, and targeted raids on criminal hideouts.

According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Salman-Dogo Garba, the command has recorded a total of 62 arrests for major crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and cattle rustling, between November 25 and December 9, 2024.

CP Salman Dogo Garba Who Spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the Command SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa at Bompai, Police Headquarters in Kano said the Notable Arrests and Recoveries includes, the arrest of Eight armed robbery suspects, 10 suspected cattle rustlers and three suspected kidnappers.

One kidnapping victim and one abduction victim were rescued, in addition to 10 human trafficking victims.

Kiyawa explained that the police seceeded in recovering counterfeit currencies worth over N129 billion, including $3.3 million and CFA 51.9 million.

“Six live ammunitions were recovered, three tricycles and eight motorcycleswere also recovered.”

The public relations officer maintained that the Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of community engagement and partnership in the command’s efforts to reduce crime.

He encouraged residents to continue supporting and cooperating with the police by providing timely and accurate information.
