GOVERNOR ABDULRAZAQ TAKES DELIVERY OF 20 CNG BUSES, 20 TRICYCLES 09-12-24
By Sadiq Aminu Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has described the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, P-CNGi vehicles as another fruitful effort to ease mass transit in the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq stated this while taking delivery 20 eighteen seater gas-powered buses and 20 tricycles from the P-CNGi in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The Governor, who lauded the initiative, said that it forms part of the government’s efforts to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the populace.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the P-CNGi for making steady progress in the initiative.
“This is another strategic partnership between our government, private sector players, and the Federal Government to bring ease to our people.
According to the Governor, the 18-seater shuttle buses and tricycles would be deployed to support the public transport system at a discounted cost to the people.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq gave the assurance that his administration is also partnering an India firm, B-One Mobility Limited, which is setting up an assembly plant for gas-powered tricycles in the state.
He noted that the partnership would offer huge socioeconomic benefits for the people of the state in the area of job creation, poverty reduction, and affordable and clean transport system.
Earlier, the Executive Vice Chairman, P-CNGi, Mr Toyin Zubair explained that Kwara State is one of the states that have keyed into the CNG initiative and assured the state of the federal government’s strong partnership, especially with huge investment in the establishment of more conversion centres.
Mr Zubair said that the target of the federal government was to convert about 1 million vehicles from petrol to CNG, commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for being one of the pillars behind the transformative agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a remark, the Chief Executive Officer, B One Mobility Limited, Mr Atul Saraf said his company was introducing a holistic mobility ecosystem solution that includes utility vehicles, garbage tippers, ambulances, and fire fighting equipment as well as CNG tractors.
Mr Saraf added that the programme would create 5,000 direct and 9,500 indirect employment opportunities and lauded the President’s vision in Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, technology.
