ARMY RESCUES 23 ABDUCTED PASSENGERS AFTER KOGI HIGHWAY ATTACK

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigerian Army has rescued 23 passengers abducted by suspected bandits during an attack along the Ayegunle–Bunu Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The rescue operation was launched after troops received a distress call reporting that armed men had blocked the highway and abducted several travellers in the early hours of Monday.

According to the Army, security operatives immediately moved into the area and pursued the attackers, forcing them to abandon the captives, who were later rescued unharmed.
The military said two people lost their lives during the attack, while five others sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Troops have since intensified operations in the area as efforts continue to track down the attackers and secure the release of any victims who may still be in captivity.
