JUST IN: EMIR OF GUMEL, AHMED SANI II, DIES AT 83
The Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani II, has died at the age of 83.
The monarch died on Thursday in Cairo, Egypt, where he was receiving medical treatment. His death was confirmed by the Jigawa State Government.
Ahmed Sani II became the 16th Emir of Gumel in December 1980 and spent nearly 46 years on the throne.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the state government and the Gumel Emirate Council.
