The Edo State Government has extended the deadline for enforcement against the sale of sachet alcoholic beverages to September 20, 2026.
The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee said the extension would allow traders to return sachet alcohol products in their possession to manufacturers.
The committee’s Director-General, Osaro Iyamu, said the decision followed a meeting with representatives of beverage dealers and sachet alcohol distributors in the state.
He said dealers are not allowed to sell the products during the grace period and warned against harassment of traders complying with the directive.
The committee urged dealers to use the extension period to comply, stressing that consumer safety remains its priority.
