NNPCL DISTANCES ITSELF FROM TRUCK WITH 2,145KG CANNABIS IN ONDO

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has said a truck intercepted with 2,145kg of cannabis in Ondo State does not belong to the company.

The truck, which was intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), reportedly carried markings associated with NNPCL.

In a statement, the company said preliminary checks showed that the vehicle was neither owned by NNPCL nor part of its official fleet or that of any authorised dealer.

NNPCL commended the NDLEA for its vigilance and professionalism, adding that it was working with the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) to establish how the company’s old branding came to be used on the vehicle.

The company said it takes the unauthorised use of its corporate identity seriously, particularly when linked to unlawful activities.

NNPCL added that it was reviewing its brand-protection measures and would take legal action where necessary against anyone found to have used its identity without authorisation.
