The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recorded N7.2 trillion in profit after tax in 2025, representing a 33 per cent increase from the N5.4 trillion reported in 2024.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Bashir Ojulari, disclosed this in Abuja during a media briefing on the company’s 2025 Audited Financial Statements.
Ojulari said the company also recorded its highest crude oil and condensate production in five years, averaging 1.77 million barrels per day.
He added that natural gas production averaged 7.2 billion standard cubic feet per day, the highest level recorded in three years.
According to him, the 2025 performance reflected improved execution and stronger operational capacity, while the company continued to invest in its workforce and assets.
On the country’s refineries, Ojulari said NNPCL had made progress in discussions with prospective partners, including conducting asset due diligence to improve their commercial viability and support domestic energy security.
He said the company was optimistic that international best practices would be applied to ensure the refineries meet competitive quality and operational standards when restored.
NNPCL is targeting crude oil production of two million barrels per day by 2027 and three million barrels per day by 2030. It also plans to increase natural gas production to 12 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030 and mobilise $60 billion in investments across the oil and gas value chain.
