An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Zamfara State, Hajiya Hadiza Liman, has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) with more than 5,000 supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Liman formally joined the NDC at Galadima Ward in Gusau Local Government Area, where she said her decision was driven by the need to support the party’s governorship candidate, Kabiru Garba Marafa.
She said she previously belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC, but alleged that Governor Dauda Lawal failed to support those who contributed to his campaign and election.
Liman, who said her supporters came from the state’s 14 local government areas, also urged Islamic scholars to support the NDC and its candidate.
The NDC chairman in Galadima Ward, Surajo Garba P.A., welcomed the new members, describing the defection as a major boost for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
